Moai Releases CompleteSource 4.6 Solution for e-Sourcing

2/19/2003

Solution Enhances Collaboration, Negotiation and Analysis Capabilities

PITTSBURGH, February 19, 2003 – Moai Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of sourcing consulting services and technology-enabled solutions, today announced the release of CompleteSourceTM 4.6, a sourcing management tool with enhanced capabilities for collaboration, negotiation and analysis. This is the third major enhancement of CompleteSource in the last twelve months, demonstrating Moai’s commitment to responding to customers’ needs quickly in an ever-changing marketplace.

“Moai consulted with existing customers and prospects in developing CompleteSource 4.6 to ensure it would provide the functionality they desired, streamlining the sourcing process for both buyers and suppliers,“ said Ravi Ghai, Moai’s vice president of marketing. “With this release, suppliers are able to be more responsive and competitive throughout the bidding process, and buyers are better able to determine which supplier meets their needs on an individual RFx basis.” This release further establishes that it is both possible – and advantageous – to create an online forum for a complex sourcing process.

“With CompleteSource 4.6, Moai has further demonstrated how a sourcing tool can leverage a company’s team-based sourcing projects and processes,” said Ghai. “Our customers are able to collaborate with parties both inside and outside of their company, while maintaining complete control over how information is shared.”

Specific enhancements of CompleteSource 4.6 include:

  • Improved sourcing collaboration
A flexible role infrastructure allows a company to imbed its proprietary sourcing process directly into the workflow. Roles and responsibilities can be established for individuals as administrators, buyers, suppliers and project administrators. In addition, sourcing project and RFx leaders can designate other users as contributors to a specific RFx.
  • Simplified creation of complex cost models
CompleteSource 4.6 provides an easy-to-use and extremely flexible means to build a complex model for Total Acquisition Cost (TAC) and publish it to the supplier community as desired. The buyer controls which parameters – such as price x quantity, taxes, inventory costs, switching costs, quality and reliability – are designated as part of the TAC. Buyer parameters for a given supplier may also be entered and revised prior to opening an offering. All TAC information is used to rank suppliers during an offering and to determine the winner. “CompleteSource 4.6 provides the flexibility needed to create cost models for RFx’s on a case-by-case basis. Users may alter cost parameters for an RFx to ensure they will choose the supplier that best meets their needs for that specific project,” said Ghai.
  • Streamlined negotiation capabilities
Negotiation at a line-item level enables the buyer to provide timely and detailed negotiation feedback to the bidder. Feedback is displayed directly on the bid form, allowing the bidder to respond more quickly.
  • More efficient bid comparison, including “what if” analysis
With one click, buyers can export detailed bid data, including all lines and all bidders, to Microsoft Excel or .csv formats for review. “What if” analysis is as simple as changing a value in a single cell. Values are recalculated, and a new winning bidder becomes evident.
  • Increased compatibility with Microsoft Excel
New capabilities for Import/Export enable buyers and suppliers to generate complex RFx’s off-line. In addition, CompleteSource 4.6 provides enhanced reporting capabilities through Excel, and all data is available for use with third-party reporting tools.
  • Improved user interface
This release includes draft bid and save functionality, improved message center functionality and simplified workflows. Moving forward, each release will be designed so that the user experience is simplified considerably for the supplier.
  • Additional platforms
CompleteSource is available for Sun Solaris/Oracle and Windows 2000/Microsoft SQL Server platforms.

As with previous releases, CompleteSource 4.6 is fully scalable and offers its users the level of control they desire — at a fraction of the cost of other solutions. Moai’s customers have the flexibility to use CompleteSource 4.6 as part of a hosted solution or as a software solution that can be customized and integrated with other applications within the supply chain infrastructure.

Major new enhancements are planned for the next release in the areas of reporting, optimization, multi-language support and on-line e-Learning training modules.
